Businessman robbed, thrown out of speeding car by criminal gang in FCT

A disturbing case of robbery occurred on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway as a 53-year-old trader, Alhaji Usman Mani, was assaulted and dumped by suspected criminals posing as commercial drivers.

The incident happened near GSS Yangoji on the evening of April 13, 2025, shortly after Mani boarded a vehicle at Wazobia Park, Gwagwalada, en route to Abaji.

He had earlier sold goods at Tungan Maje market before taking the ill-fated trip.

Mani said the car had three individuals at the back, including two women, and one person sitting in front.

He took the last seat at the back, but before reaching a sharp turn near the school, a female occupant complained about discomfort.

“The driver asked me to switch to the front seat, but as I tried to do so, one of them suddenly pushed me out,” Mani said. The gang sped off immediately, taking his bag containing N700,000 in cash.

The trader sustained minor injuries from the fall. Fortunately, a good Samaritan driving by recognized him and gave him a lift back to Abaji.
