A 21-year-old student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, has been taken into custody by the Abia State Police Command over alleged possession of illegal firearms.

The individual, identified as Chidozie Humble, is a 300-level student from the Department of Animal Breeding and Physiology. He was arrested on March 5, 2025, by operatives of the Serious Crime Investigation Squad at his residence in Royal Heritage Lodge, located in Umudike, Ikwuano Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, several weapons were recovered during the operation.

“Officers seized three locally made pistols along with an English CZECH SCORPION pistol,” Chinaka disclosed.

She reaffirmed the police command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety, adding that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the case.
