Court bars Kanu’s relative after social media broadcast during hearing

-

Favour Kanu, a relative of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has been ejected from a Federal High Court session in Abuja after she was caught live-streaming the proceedings, a move that prompted a stern response from Justice James Omotosho.

MCC gathered that the judge banned her from attending three future sittings. He warned that her actions nearly amounted to contempt of court, but he refrained from further punishment following pleas from Kanu’s lead attorney, Kanu Agabi.

Justice Omotosho questioned her directly, asking, “Weren’t you the one whose phone I took? I didn’t order that the phone be confiscated. I don’t even know if she’s Kanu’s wife.”

Favour apologized publicly and pledged not to repeat the offense.

The Federal Government continues to prosecute Nnamdi Kanu on terrorism-related allegations.
