Chris Brown to resume tour after posting massive bail in UK assault case

-

R&B superstar Chris Brown has secured his temporary release from custody after being granted bail by a UK court in connection with a 2023 nightclub altercation.

The artist, aged 36, was charged with grievous bodily harm following an alleged attack on a music producer with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in London’s upscale Mayfair area. Authorities described the incident as an unprovoked assault.

Brown was detained in Salford last Thursday and was initially denied bail. However, at a bail hearing on Wednesday, a judge ordered his release under strict financial conditions—£4 million to be paid upfront and another £1 million within seven days.

The Southwark Crown Court judge clarified that Brown could lose the £5 million if he violates the bail terms. He was not present at the hearing.

The singer, known for chart-topping tracks like Loyal and Under the Influence, is now cleared to launch his international tour starting in Amsterdam on June 8. The tour includes stops in UK cities such as Birmingham, Cardiff, and London through July.

Under the bail agreement, Brown must avoid the nightclub involved in the alleged incident, have no contact with the victim, reside at a specific address known to the court, and surrender his passport when not touring. He is also prohibited from applying for new travel documents.

Brown is scheduled to reappear in court on June 20 along with his co-defendant, fellow American performer Omololu Akinlolu, also known as HoodyBaby.
