The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced that 10,000 youths from the region will receive a monthly stipend of N50,000 as part of its one-year Youth Internship Scheme.
The initiative is designed to equip young people with practical skills by placing them in various organizations for hands-on training.
NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thomson-Wakama, confirmed that the selection process for the program has been successfully completed.
She noted that the large number of applications reflected the strong determination of youths in the region to develop their skills and improve their future prospects.
To ensure transparency and efficiency, the NDDC has partnered with KPMG, a global consulting firm, to enhance governance within the program.
Thomson-Wakama revealed that KPMG has prepared a Governance Advisory Report aimed at strengthening the commission’s policies and improving accountability.
The initiative is part of NDDC’s broader efforts to promote youth empowerment and economic development in the Niger Delta.
