JUST IN: Petrol tanker overturns, triggers massive Fire on Lagos bridge

A fierce fire erupted on Otedola Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday night, March 11, 2025, after a petrol tanker exploded, causing widespread destruction.

The incident, which took place around 8 p.m., occurred when the tanker lost control, overturned, and ignited a massive blaze that spread quickly across the area.

In a video posted on X by security analyst Zagazola, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the fire consumed several nearby structures, including a church, a residential building, and mechanic workshops located under the bridge near CMD Road.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, working tirelessly to contain the inferno and minimize damage.

Authorities have advised residents and motorists to steer clear of the area and use alternative routes to ensure their safety while allowing rescue efforts to proceed unhindered.

“Our main focus is to bring the situation under control and prevent further harm,” an official stated.

As of now, there is no confirmed information regarding casualties or the full extent of the damage. Updates are expected as emergency teams continue to assess the situation.
