Supreme Court sacks Abure as LP chairman

The Supreme Court has reversed the Court of Appeal’s ruling that recognized Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

In a unanimous decision, a panel of five judges determined that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to issue such a ruling.

The judges stated that the issue pertains to the party’s internal affairs, which are beyond the reach of judicial intervention.

The apex court also validated the appeal filed by Senator Nenadi Usman and another party, deeming it substantiated and well-founded.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court dismissed the cross-appeal from Abure’s faction, citing its lack of merit.
