The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the rescheduling of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 379,997 candidates affected by technical issues during the just-concluded exam.
The process began Thursday morning, following an announcement by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to Oloyede, a total of 206,610 candidates in 65 centres across Lagos and 173,387 others in 92 centres across the South-East—comprising Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo states—were impacted by system errors and disruptions.
He acknowledged the glitches and accepted responsibility for the shortcomings.
“I apologise and take full responsibility,” the JAMB boss said, adding that affected candidates would begin receiving text messages containing details of their new examination dates and centres.
One of the candidates whose reprinted exam slip was seen by PUNCH has been rescheduled to write the exam on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 noon in a Lagos centre located in the Igando area of Alimosho Local Government.
JAMB has assured candidates that necessary measures are being taken to ensure a smooth re-examination process.
