Former President Joe Biden has been found to have an aggressive stage of prostate cancer that has spread to his skeletal system, a statement from his personal office disclosed on Sunday.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.
On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the office confirmed.
Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, the statement added a hopeful note: “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”
The Biden family is currently working with his doctors to explore potential treatment strategies, the statement concluded.
