Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly taken Nelson Adepoyigi, a local leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, hostage. The incident occurred at his home on Ifon-Owo Road in Ose LGA on Monday evening.
Sources revealed that the kidnappers have made contact with Adepoyigi’s family, requesting a hefty ransom of ₦100 million.
The development has caused alarm among residents, particularly farmers in the area, who have expressed frustration over repeated security breaches.
The latest abduction adds to growing concerns about safety in Ondo’s rural communities.
Speaking to the media, the state police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the kidnapping and emphasised that security forces are actively involved in a coordinated search.
He said a joint team comprising the police, military personnel, local hunters, and vigilantes has been deployed to track and apprehend the suspects.
