An All Progressives Congress (APC) faction in Ondo State, operating under the banner of the APC Mandate Group, has accused the Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, of remaining in office unlawfully following the expiration of his tenure in February 2025.
The group made the allegation in a statement signed by its Southwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kayode Adekunle, calling for Olabimtan’s immediate removal and a thorough investigation into his activities during his extended stay in office.
According to the group, Olabimtan’s continued presence in office without official reappointment is in violation of legal procedures and undermines public sector integrity.
“Credible information reaching us confirms that Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan’s statutory term as SUBEB chairman ended in February 2025.
His continued occupation of the office without formal renewal contradicts the principles of due process, transparency, and good governance,” the statement read.
The group warned that allowing such actions to go unchallenged would set a harmful precedent and urged the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to intervene by removing Olabimtan from the role and authorizing a full probe into his activities from January 2025 onwards.
The investigation, they said, should focus on contract awards, expenditure, and staffing under his leadership after his tenure expired.
They commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his achievements under the “OUR EASE” development agenda and warned that Olabimtan’s alleged actions could become a distraction to the progress being made across the state.
“If this matter is not urgently addressed, the APC Mandate Group may relocate its Zonal Headquarters to Ondo State to directly tackle the issue,” the group added, noting that it also plans to report the situation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement ended with a strong stance of solidarity with the state government, vowing not to back down until what they described as illegality and abuse of office are addressed.
Efforts to get a response from Olabimtan were unsuccessful.
