The abduction of Nelson Adepoyigi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairman in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has taken a troubling turn, as two individuals who went to deliver a ransom have also been seized by the kidnappers.
Adepoyigi was abducted on Monday night near his residence in Ifon as he attempted to park his vehicle. Eyewitnesses reported that he was assaulted before being taken away by force.
Following negotiations, the captors had earlier agreed to reduce their demand from N100 million to N5 million along with food supplies.
However, after receiving the items, the criminals reportedly abducted the two men sent to deliver them—identified as Bayode Loco and Isimeri.
A local resident, who preferred to remain unnamed, confirmed that the kidnappers have now issued a new demand of N30 million for the release of all three individuals.
“They took the two men who brought the ransom and are now asking for thirty million naira,” the source said.
Hon. Kolapo Oja, Chairman of Ose Local Government, previously acknowledged the N5 million agreement and the delivery of food items during earlier negotiations.
He expressed shock over the latest development and called for patience and calm as security operatives continue their rescue efforts.
The situation has heightened anxiety among residents, family members, and political allies of the abducted ward chairman as pressure mounts for a safe and swift resolution.
