Bayelsa Court stops pro-Wike rally in Yenagoa

A Bayelsa State High Court has issued an interim injunction preventing associates of Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, from holding a planned rally in Yenagoa on April 12, 2025.

The ruling was delivered on Thursday by Justice I. A. Uzakah in response to an ex-parte motion filed by the state’s Attorney General, Biriyai Dambo (SAN), under Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025.

Among those named as defendants in the case are the rally’s chief organizer, George Turnah, and Minister Wike. Also listed are the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police.

The court’s decision prohibits the defendants, their representatives, and associates from organizing, attending, or facilitating any political assembly in the state until a motion for an interlocutory injunction is determined.

The matter has been scheduled for hearing on April 11, 2025.
