Bello Turji eliminates 11 farmers in Sokoto attack

Notorious bandit leader Kachalla Bello Turji has reportedly killed 11 farmers in a violent attack on Lugu town in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, left the community in mourning as residents struggled to come to terms with the tragedy.

Sources revealed that Turji carried out the attack while returning from a Sallah visit to a nearby community in Isa. According to Basharu Altine Giyawa, a resident, intelligence reports had earlier indicated that Turji planned to visit the eastern part of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area as early as Saturday.

Despite informing the authorities about the potential threat, no action was taken to prevent the attack.

“We received information about Turji’s movement and promptly alerted the relevant authorities, but no measures were put in place to stop him,” Giyawa stated.

Turji has been responsible for a series of violent incidents across northwestern Nigeria, including mass kidnappings, killings, and cattle rustling, fueling insecurity in the region.
