Former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed strong frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over recent remarks regarding Ukraine’s leadership.
Speaking to journalists, Trump said he was “very angry, pissed off” after Putin suggested the need for a new transitional government in Ukraine.
Trump, who is campaigning for a return to the White House, warned that if Moscow is found responsible for obstructing a ceasefire in Ukraine, he would impose “secondary tariffs on oil, on all oil coming out of Russia.”
Despite his criticism, Trump later softened his stance, stating that he still believes Putin is “going to be good.”
However, he also took aim at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, faulting him for not agreeing to a minerals deal with the U.S.
Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine rages on, with Russian forces launching another wave of attacks on Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city.
Ukrainian officials reported that overnight airstrikes injured two people and damaged private homes. Earlier on Sunday, six separate Russian strikes killed two people and wounded 25.
