Wolves, Leicester enter race, 49 G/A Nigerian striker amid Lazio, Wolfsburg interest

Rafiu Durosinmi’s rising profile in European football has sparked fresh interest from the Premier League, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City joining Lazio and Wolfsburg in pursuit of the Viktoria Plzeň striker.

Premier League Scouts Track Durosinmi
As per Football Insider, Wolves and Leicester recently sent scouts to watch Plzeň’s Europa League match against Lazio, where Durosinmi impressed despite his team’s 2-1 defeat. The 22-year-old Nigerian forward, who has long been on Wolves’ radar, scored his side’s only goal with a well-taken header from Lukáš Kalvach’s free-kick in the 53rd minute.

Beyond the goal, Durosinmi put in a dominant display—winning 18 duels, completing 71% of his passes, and delivering a key pass that nearly led to another goal.

Wolves and Leicester’s Plans for Durosinmi
With Leicester and Wolves battling for Premier League survival—sitting 19th and 17th, respectively—their immediate focus is avoiding relegation. However, their pursuit of Durosinmi indicates long-term planning for the 2025-26 season, whether in the Premier League or the Championship.

Lazio Steps Up Interest
Lazio’s sporting director, Angelo Mariano Fabiani, was reportedly “bewitched” by Durosinmi’s movement and technical ability. According to Italian outlet Lazialità, Fabiani wasted no time in inquiring about the striker’s availability after the match.

Plzeň are open to selling, having previously agreed on a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024. That transfer collapsed at the final stage due to a medical issue, but since returning from knee surgery, Durosinmi has hit form—scoring five goals and providing one assist in nine games.

His overall record at Plzeň stands at 36 goals and 13 assists in 95 appearances, solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most sought-after young forwards.

Wolves in Pole Position?
Wolves could have an advantage in the race, especially with potential summer squad changes. With Pablo Sarabia expected to leave and doubts over Hwang Hee-Chan and Gonçalo Guedes, Durosinmi could be an affordable attacking reinforcement.

Leicester, on the other hand, may struggle to secure his signature if they are relegated, as the striker is reportedly keen on playing in a top-tier league in England, Italy, or Germany.

Standing at 6ft 3in, Durosinmi combines aerial strength, pace, and power—qualities that make him a highly attractive option for clubs seeking a physical yet technically skilled forward.

Plzeň’s Asking Price
Plzeň are expected to demand between £10-15 million for Durosinmi, a fee that could be challenging for Leicester if they drop to the Championship.

The Nigerian forward will have another opportunity to showcase his talent this week when Viktoria Plzeň travels to Rome for the second leg of their Europa League clash against Lazio.
