Tinubu mourns ex-Presidential Aide, Doyin Okupe

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences over the passing of Dr. Doyin Okupe, acknowledging his role as a fearless and articulate figure in Nigeria’s political sphere.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu extended his sympathies to Okupe’s family and loved ones following his demise on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 72.

The president noted that Okupe’s passing was a great loss, especially at a time when his vast knowledge and experience remained invaluable to the nation.

“President Tinubu remembers Dr. Okupe as a courageous and articulate advocate for national development and deeply mourns his passing at a time when his contributions were still highly relevant,” the statement said.

He also sympathized with the government and people of Ogun State, particularly the Iperu-Remo community, recognizing the loss of a respected leader and statesman.

The president further acknowledged Okupe’s influence both in his home state and across the country, praying for the repose of his soul and asking God to comfort his family and all those who mourn his departure.
