Wike arrives in Italy for agriculture, vocational education partnership

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Milan, Italy, for a series of official meetings, including discussions with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, to explore partnerships in agriculture and vocational education.

According to a statement by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister left Abuja on Tuesday night and arrived in Milan at about 4:30 am on Wednesday. He was received by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

During his visit, Wike is set to engage with the Lombardy regional government and investors in agribusiness and vocational training. His discussions with Fontana will focus on potential collaborations to drive development in these sectors.

Lombardy is Italy’s most economically significant region, with a population of around 10 million. It is also one of the largest contributors to the European Union’s (EU) nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Wike is accompanied by key officials, including Dr. Danlami Hayyo, FCT Mandate Secretary for Education; Lawan Geidam, Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development; Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, Senior Special Assistant on Administration; and Barrister Benedict Daudu, Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation.
