Bandits abduct APC Chairman, others, kill civilians in fresh attacks

Suspected bandits have kidnapped Malam Yakubu Sani, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dan-Isa Ward, Kauran Namoda, along with three other party officials—Jamilu Usman, Dantahiya Kasa, and Dangandi Marnona.

The abduction occurred on Saturday, March 1, while the victims were on their way to Talatan Mafara.

According to a local source, their vehicle broke down along Mayanchi Road, and the armed assailants took advantage of the situation to seize them.

Efforts to reach the state APC chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, for comments were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, stated that he had not been briefed on the incident.

A resident of the area expressed deep frustration over the escalating insecurity, revealing that more than 200 people are currently being held hostage by kidnappers, with many seized along the Dansadau-Magami and Magami-Gusau routes.

He lamented that ransom payments no longer guarantee the release of victims, as abductors often renege on agreements.

“Our people have lost faith in paying ransom because these bandits cannot be trusted. They take the money but still refuse to release many captives, some of whom have been killed,” he said.
