Bandits attack hostel, abduct four University students

In the early hours of Sunday, armed bandits stormed an off-campus student lodge in Dutsin-Ma town, Katsina State, abducting four students of the Federal University of Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA).

Security analyst Bakatsine, who disclosed the incident on his Twitter page, described the attack as alarming and urged the government to take swift action. “It is heartbreaking that students can no longer feel safe even in their residences. Authorities must act fast to rescue them,” he tweeted.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived around 2 a.m., firing sporadically before seizing their victims and fleeing to an unknown location. A resident, who spoke anonymously, stated that the gunmen operated for nearly an hour without facing any resistance.

While authorities have yet to release an official statement, security forces are said to be mobilizing efforts to track down the kidnappers.

The incident has intensified concerns over the rising insecurity in northern Nigeria, with renewed calls for stronger measures to safeguard students and communities.
