Ex-NYSC DG Tsiga remains in captivity 23 days after abduction

Former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), General Maharazu Tsiga (retd), has now spent 23 days in captivity following his abduction by armed bandits in Katsina State.

Tsiga was kidnapped along with nine others from his residence in Tsiga town, located in Bakori Local Government Area of the state.

Initially, the abductors demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release. However, a source revealed that a different group has since taken custody of him after a settlement with the original kidnappers, and the new captors are now demanding N500 million.

“They first asked for N250 million, but we learned that another gang took over after an agreement with the initial kidnappers. The new group is now requesting N500 million for his release,” the source disclosed.

A family member confirmed that Tsiga remains alive, and the family has maintained contact with his abductors while efforts continue at various levels to secure his freedom.

“He has not been released yet, but the good news is that he is alive, and we are still in communication with the kidnappers. We remain hopeful,” the family source stated.

Another insider mentioned that his release was expected earlier, but unforeseen challenges have delayed the process.
