Two officers killed as Police apprehend four in failed kidnap attempt in Jos

Two police officers on special duty in Jos, Plateau State, were killed during a gunfight with suspected kidnappers in the Little Rayfield area of Jos South Local Government Area.

Authorities confirmed that four individuals linked to the attempted abduction have been arrested.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, stated, “Four suspected kidnappers have been taken into custody following the foiled kidnapping along Little Rayfield Road, Jos.

Sadly, two officers from the Force Investigation Department, Abuja, attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), lost their lives during the shootout with the suspects.”

He added that investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided in due course.

In a separate development, Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, has disbursed cheques totaling over N20 million to the families of fallen officers.

Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Aliko Dankolo, Adesina urged recipients to use the financial support wisely to sustain their families and honor the sacrifices of their loved ones.
