A Public Relations Manager, Ewatomilola Emiola Owoeye has berated the inauguration committee of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over an alleged attempt to defame her.
Ewatomilola expressed her displeasure in a statement signed by her and made available to newsmen on Sunday.
The statement reads, “My attention has been drawn to an incongruous statement laden with mendacious claims that I asked people to contact me for Yoruba attires (Aso Oke, Fila, and Gele) for the inauguration ceremony of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, slated for February 24, 2025.
“The puerile statement, which is apparently bereft of facts and aimed at defaming my long-standing and impeccable reputation, was signed by one Adeyemi Adeyemo, who has kept the history of the entire matter at arm’s length while frenetically couching a skewed narrative.
“To set the warped record straight, I was contacted by Mr. William Aiyedatiwa, a younger brother of Mr. Governor, to help sell the attires for His Excellency’s birthday celebration.
“Out of implicit respect for Governor Aiyedatiwa, I did not decline the request. The attires were handed over to me, but later, I was instructed to halt the sale due to the passing of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), as they were to be used for the inauguration ceremony instead.
“Subsequently, I was directed by Mr. Williams to resume the sale of the attires for the inauguration, which I also confirmed from Rt. Hon Olabimtan and some other members of the committee. However, I was taken aback last week when Adeyemo called me, demanding to know who had given me the approval to sell them. Piqued by his call, which lacked any air of gravitas, I immediately reached out to Mr. Williams and the committee to express my willingness to withdraw from the sale of the attires. Without hesitation, I was instructed to hand them over to Hon. Mrs. Fayemi from Ilaje Constituency 2, which I promptly did on Friday. The account of what was sold at the approved rate was also submitted, and the money was duly retired to the committee.
“It is now glaring that the motive of the committee is to defame me, especially since a new person has now been commissioned to sell the attires. She introduced herself, so why drag my name into this? More so, I personally spent my money fueling my car to deliver the attires when I was in charge, yet this effort is being twisted into a false narrative. Clearly, their aim is to tarnish my image, but their far-fetched claims have been widely refuted by discerning individuals.
“As a well-respected Public Relations Manager with a wealth of experience, I have never indulged in any sharp practices. I urge Adeyemo and his committee to revisit the school of history and garner more knowledge on the importance of verifying facts before putting out witless statements to the public.
