The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged the people of Anambra and the South-East to align with the ruling party to unlock greater political and economic opportunities.
Speaking at the inauguration of the APC state secretariat in Awka, Ganduje emphasized the party’s commitment to integrating Anambra into the national political landscape ahead of the November governorship election.
Describing the Igbo as one of the most nationalistic groups in Nigeria, he stressed that their full potential could only be realized through active participation in the APC.
“We must be focused, have a plan, and a clear vision. It is evident that APC in Anambra understands this,” Ganduje stated.
He urged the South-East to connect with the central government, likening their current political stance to “operating on rural electrification and generators,” while encouraging them to “plug into the national grid” for broader influence.
Reflecting on the region’s historical significance, he said, “We want to take you back to the good old days of Ojukwu when he was pardoned and reintegrated into Nigeria in the spirit of unity, and the era of Nnamdi Azikiwe.”
Ganduje reaffirmed his determination to bring Anambra into mainstream national politics, beginning with the upcoming governorship election.
At the event, two APC governorship aspirants, Sir Paul Chukwuma and Professor Obiora Okonkwo—both instrumental in the establishment of the new party secretariat—expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in Anambra.
