Shettima teases Atiku, hints at more political jabs ahead of 2027 elections

Vice President Kashim Shettima has playfully warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to brace himself for more political jabs as the 2027 elections approach.

Speaking at a symposium in Abuja to celebrate the 60th birthday of former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Shettima reaffirmed his respect for Atiku but humorously remarked that the next election cycle would bring even more spirited exchanges.

Reflecting on their past encounters during the 2023 presidential campaign, Shettima recalled describing himself as an “adjunct provocateur” who took “hot shots” at Atiku.

He commended Atiku for his composed reactions to criticism, acknowledging their political rivalry while maintaining a personal rapport.

He revealed that, despite their differences, he fondly refers to Atiku as “Baba” in private conversations.

However, he made it clear that when the political battle heats up in 2027, he won’t hold back.

His lighthearted comments drew laughter from the audience, with Atiku himself smiling in response.

Beyond the friendly banter, Shettima emphasized the importance of unity among Nigeria’s leaders, urging collaboration across political divides to ensure national progress.
