Chief Bode George, a key figure in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has demanded an immediate halt to the ongoing conflict within the party, specifically addressing the ongoing rift between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Frustrated by the prolonged discord, George described the situation as “nonsense” and called on both Atiku and Wike to reconcile for the sake of the party’s future. He stressed that unity is crucial for the PDP’s survival, warning that continued internal conflict could harm the party’s reputation and impact its chances in future elections.
As a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, George urged party leadership to prioritize the collective interests of the party over personal grievances. He reminded members of the PDP’s history of overcoming internal challenges and encouraged them to emulate the example of the party’s founders.
“We must take action. Atiku and Wike need to be firm in putting an end to this. This cannot go on any longer,” George said in an interview with Daily Independent.
The ongoing tensions between Atiku and Wike have raised significant concerns within the PDP, particularly in the aftermath of the 2023 presidential election.
