World Cup qualifiers: Super Eagles play 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana

Super Eagles of Nigeria have played out a 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

This draw has dented Nigeria’s hopes of a seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

South Africa took the lead in the 29th minute through Themba Zwane who dazzled past the Nigerian defence to send the ball beyond the reach of Stanley Nwabali in goal for the Super Eagles.

In the 46th minute, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru got Nigeria back into the game with an exquisite solo effort from outside the box.

The Eagles will travel to Abidjan for the matchday 4 clash against Benin Republic on Monday evening.
