Obiageli Ezekwesili, Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, has accepted an invitation to serve as an Advisor to the Club de Madrid, a prestigious network of former democratic world leaders.

Announcing the development through her X handle on Tuesday, Ezekwesili described the Club de Madrid as “the world’s largest forum of democratic former Presidents and Prime Ministers.”

She noted that the organisation uses its broad leadership experience and international influence to promote democratic values and enhance global welfare.

In her announcement, she wrote, “I accepted the invitation to become an Advisor to @ClubdeMadrid… who leverage their individual and collective leadership experience and global reach to strengthen inclusive democratic practice and improve the well-being of people around the world.”

Ezekwesili further remarked on the urgent need for leadership in today’s complex global environment, saying, “The leadership vacuum delays solutions to global public bads.” She added that she is honoured to support the forum’s efforts to drive global cooperation and solutions.
