Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has condemned the recent show of support by APC leaders in the North West for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition.
The endorsement, which took place last Friday, included key party stakeholders from the region, such as APC National Chairman Umar Ganduje, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, as well as governors, ministers, and lawmakers from the North West.
But Baba-Ahmed, speaking via his official 𝕏 account on Monday, argued that the endorsement does not capture the true sentiments of the region’s populace.
He said people battling poverty, insecurity, and economic distress are the ones who will ultimately decide Tinubu’s political future.
He accused the APC elite of ignoring grassroots realities. “The North West APC leaders endorsed Tinubu and themselves without acknowledging the suffering public. It’s like they believe public opinion doesn’t matter,” he stated.
