President Bola Tinubu welcomed the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. This meeting was the monarch’s first formal visit to the President since his coronation earlier this year on April 12, 2025.
Oba Owoade arrived at the villa following Jumaat prayers and was received soon after President Tinubu wrapped up a private security briefing with the service chiefs and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
At the Alaafin’s coronation ceremony in Oyo town, Vice President Kashim Shettima, standing in for the President, called on the monarch to champion unity within the Yoruba community and help strengthen Nigeria’s national unity.
