LP crisis: Gov Otti urges immediate arrest of Julius Abure, condemns suspension

-

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has strongly condemned his alleged suspension by Julius Abure’s faction of the Labour Party, describing the development as a theatrical attempt to undermine democratic order.

While the Abia state governor condemned the suspension, he also urge the inspector general of police to arrest Julius Abure immediately for impersonation..

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti said Abure’s action amounts to impersonation and must be addressed immediately.

Ekeoma emphasized that the Supreme Court had definitively ruled that Julius Abure is no longer the national chairman of the Labour Party. The party’s caretaker leadership under Senator Nenadi Usman also does not recognize Abure in that capacity.

“The Supreme Court has spoken — Abure is no longer the party’s chairman,” Ekeoma asserted.

According to him, Abure’s move to announce Otti’s suspension came shortly after he was summoned by the party’s caretaker committee to defend himself against multiple allegations, including misuse of funds and impersonating party leadership.

Ekeoma urged the Inspector General of Police to promptly arrest Abure for the alleged offense, and called on INEC to implement the Supreme Court’s verdict in full, saying this would reinforce judicial authority and safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
