Viral video of police tying Ganduje’s shoelaces misrepresented – Aide

Aminu Dahiru Ahmad, an aide to APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reacted to the controversy sparked by a video showing a police officer tying Ganduje’s shoelaces, dismissing the backlash as politically motivated.

The footage, which made the rounds on social media on Monday, drew mixed reactions, with critics questioning the appropriateness of the act.

In response, Ahmad told Daily Trust that the video was being deliberately misinterpreted by political adversaries seeking to tarnish Ganduje’s image.

According to Ahmad, the scene was not one of humiliation or superiority but a glimpse into the cordial and respectful relationship Ganduje shares with his aides.

“The video simply shows the friendly nature of Dr. Ganduje. He treats those around him with kindness and respect,” he said.

He described Ganduje as approachable and humble, noting that he had worked with him for nearly ten years and had always been treated like family.

“Dr. Ganduje doesn’t encourage praise-singing or arrogance. He is a leader who values people,” Ahmad added.

He went on to accuse the opposition of trying to manufacture scandal for political gain. “This attempt to stir up controversy will not dent Ganduje’s reputation. His contributions in Kano and now at the national level speak for themselves,” Ahmad said.

Highlighting the growing influence of the APC, Ahmad cited recent defections, including those of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former vice presidential hopeful Ifeanyi Okowa, as evidence of the party’s rising momentum under Ganduje’s leadership.
