The EFCC has confirmed the detention of digital personality Martins Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, citing several petitions filed against him as the cause for his arrest.
Speaking with BBC News Pidgin, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale revealed on Monday that the influencer was being held due to accusations involving cyberstalking raised by multiple individuals.
“He is in custody because of the volume of petitions we received. We’re processing the case in line with legal procedures,” Oyewale stated.
“Once he satisfies his bail terms, he’ll be released. We’re also preparing to take him to court shortly.”
Responding to inquiries about whether the matter involved GTBank, Oyewale clarified that the issues stemmed from different sources and that the agency was acting in the interest of the complainants.
He added that the EFCC intends to formally charge Otse in court soon.
