A statistical report released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has provided insights into the performance of candidates who participated in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Of the nearly 2 million candidates nationwide, the vast majority, over 1.5 million, scored below 200.

According to JAMB, only a small fraction excelled, with 4,756 scoring above 320 and 7,658 achieving scores between 300 and 319.

JAMB also confirmed that 40,247 underage candidates were granted permission to take the exam due to their advanced academic abilities.

However, only 467 of them met the board’s criteria for exceptional performance, representing just over 1% of the total. These candidates will still undergo further assessments in three additional phases.
