Cross River govt to reevaluate safety measures at Obudu Ranch after fatal accident

-

The Cross River State government has announced plans to reassess safety procedures at Obudu Ranch Resort following a fatal accident near Ikwette community hill that resulted in four deaths and left nine others injured.

Governor Bassey Otu confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, shared by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gil. The crash occurred on Saturday when a bus carrying 13 seminarians from the Enugu Catholic Diocese collided, allegedly due to brake failure.

The group, led by a reverend father, had completed a tour of the resort when the accident took place outside its main grounds.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the Nigerian Army stationed at the ranch, arrived swiftly to assist the victims.

“The details of the victims are still being compiled, but the passengers were seminarians,” Governor Otu explained in his statement.

He also noted that the state government is in the process of reaching out to the victims’ families to provide support and ensure they receive necessary assistance during this challenging time.

Governor Otu urged visitors to the resort to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained, follow all travel guidelines, and prioritize safety during their visits.

He further requested that the families of the victims be given privacy and compassion as they navigate this difficult period.
