Police denies claim of Boko Haram arrests in Lagos

Authorities in Lagos have strongly denied media reports alleging the mass arrest of Boko Haram members in the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, addressed the matter on Friday, calling the report false and misleading.

According to Hundeyin, the state’s top cop, CP Olohundare Jimoh, launched an immediate probe into the claim.

The inquiry found no indication that any Boko Haram suspects had been seen or taken into custody in any part of Lagos.

Leaders and transport workers from the trailer parks referenced in the original report also told the police they had not encountered or detained any such individuals.

Additional checks carried out by intelligence officers and other units revealed nothing to substantiate the story.

Hundeyin condemned the report as false and harmful, asserting that it was meant to stir anxiety among Lagosians.

He urged the public to disregard the report and assured them that the state remains safe.

The police also issued a caution to the media, stressing the importance of fact-checking before dissemination.

Citizens were encouraged to stay vigilant and report unusual activities to the nearest police station or contact 08063299264 for prompt response.
