Security forces have apprehended two key suspects in the kidnapping of Navy Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, who was abducted along with her sister and another individual in Abuja last month.
The suspects, Buhari Adamu and Samaila Usman, were caught along with Mu’Awiya Belo during a manhunt led by the Nigerian Navy around the Masaka region in Nasarawa State.
The kidnapping occurred on March 21 in the Mpape area when gunmen attacked Maman Vatsa Estate and blocked a major road, firing at random before seizing the victims.
A rescue mission on March 23 successfully freed the captives, and ongoing investigations uncovered the involvement of the arrested individuals.
The Navy has since handed the suspects to the FCT Police for further action.
Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo revealed that the suspects, who were found with items such as phones, ATM cards, and a motorcycle, confessed to multiple crimes including kidnapping and rustling.
He assured the public that the Naval Unit in Abuja remains committed to national security.
