Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused China of providing military aid to Russia and playing a direct role in the ongoing war through weapons manufacturing activities on Russian territory.
At a media briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, Zelenskyy cited intelligence findings from Ukrainian agencies that allegedly confirm China’s supply of arms, including artillery and gunpowder, to Russia.
“We have finally received information that China is supplying weapons to the Russian Federation.
“we believe that Chinese representatives are engaged in the production of some weapons on Russian territory,” he stated.
Zelenskyy emphasized Ukraine’s intention to share concrete evidence soon.
“We are ready to speak in detail about this,” he said, hinting that official documents supporting the allegations would be released in the coming week.
He expressed concern over what he described as clear and growing military cooperation between China and Russia.
“We see the cooperation between these two countries in this area, and we must acknowledge it is happening,” the Ukrainian leader noted.
Despite these claims, China has consistently rejected accusations that it is assisting Russia with arms in its invasion of Ukraine, as reported by the Associated Press.
Addressing the ongoing conflict, Zelenskyy acknowledged that while Russia appears to have eased up on attacks targeting Ukraine’s power facilities, it has redirected its focus toward civilian areas.
“They reduced their strikes on energy. That’s a fact,” he said.
“But I wanted us to pay attention to this – Russia did not reduce the number of strikes, that was the strategy… by reducing [strikes on] energy, they are hitting other civilian infrastructure.”
