Benue police dismantle illegal arms factory, launch manhunt for suspects

An unauthorized weapons-making facility has been shut down in Benue State by the police, who stormed a hideout in Shangev Tiev village under Konshisha LGA and recovered dangerous weapons and tools used in arms manufacturing.

The raid, which took place on Wednesday at about 4:00 p.m., was carried out by the Command’s tactical squad following actionable intelligence about one Tyozer, a man suspected to be the mastermind behind the illegal setup.

Preliminary findings indicate the site was not only used to manufacture firearms but also to train criminals in weapons use and to create mystical bulletproof charms, likely for nefarious activities.

Officers reported that the suspects took flight into the forest on sighting the approaching team.

Items retrieved from the facility include a locally produced AK-47 rifle, 18 rounds of ammunition, 20 used bullet casings, welding cylinders, and a collection of tools believed to be used in constructing guns.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the fugitive suspect and any accomplices, as police vowed to continue clamping down on arms trafficking and related crimes in the region.
