Terror strikes again in Benue as gunmen kill villagers in fresh attack

In another disturbing turn of events, residents of Emichi village in Benue State’s Otukpo Local Government Area have been thrown into mourning following a deadly raid by unknown gunmen.

The armed assailants reportedly stormed the village in broad daylight on Wednesday, opening fire on unarmed civilians around 2:00 pm.

Sources told reporters that the villagers were caught off guard and fled in panic, seeking refuge in nearby bushes and surrounding communities.

Unfortunately, with no law enforcement officers nearby, the attackers carried out the massacre unhindered.

The tragic episode occurred less than 24 hours after a similar attack in Otobi-Akpa, where 11 people were reportedly killed by suspected herders.

The back-to-back violence has sparked fresh concerns over security in Benue State, with many residents now living in fear of further attacks.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but the community is urging for urgent military intervention to prevent future tragedies.
