Security operatives in Kano State have dismantled a suspected gun-running ring, arresting three individuals and seizing a significant number of illicit firearms and ammunition.
The suspects—identified as Abdul Sadiq, 43, Ahmad Muazu, 22, and Aliyu Sharif, 40—were apprehended on April 10 in Dorayi Babba following actionable intelligence, according to a police statement released on Sunday.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed that the operation led to the recovery of 15 locally made rifles.
Also, 102 live cartridges, and six spent shells believed to have been fired in previous crimes were recovered.
He added that investigators are currently tracing the origin of the weapons and working to locate the illegal facility where the arms were manufactured.
“We are intensifying efforts to identify the arms production hub and arrest other collaborators,” ACP Adejobi said.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, applauded the operatives involved, describing the raid as a major stride in curbing arms trafficking and improving public safety.
