The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has denied claims that Governor Francis Nwifuru entered into an arrangement to serve only a single four-year term.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuatu Simbad, the APC described the allegation as entirely baseless and aimed at misleading the public.
He insisted that there is no formal or informal agreement requiring the governor to vacate office after his first term.
Ogbuatu made it clear that Governor Nwifuru has the party’s full backing to continue beyond 2027, stressing that such misleading narratives are the product of political mischief.
“At no point was there any deal to cut short the governor’s tenure. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is destined to lead, and no falsehood will derail that,” he stated.
He went on to say that since the inception of Ebonyi State, no administration has been limited to a single term, emphasizing that the state’s political precedent favors continuity for the sake of development and stability.
He accused detractors—many of whom had little or no previous involvement in the state’s politics—of deliberately attempting to sow discord and confuse citizens with unfounded speculation. However, he expressed confidence that Ebonyians are politically aware and won’t be deceived.
The APC also applauded Governor Nwifuru’s achievements so far, particularly in infrastructure and economic growth, noting that his leadership has placed the state on a promising trajectory.
Ogbuatu reiterated that the strength of the party in Ebonyi lies in its commitment to peaceful governance, unity, and service delivery—not through intimidation or manipulation.
