Ondo PDP spokesman quits, says party in morgue

Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has officially resigned from the party, citing a lack of genuine leadership and direction.

In a letter addressed to the chairman of Arogbo Ward One, Peretei criticized the current leadership, saying they have no real ambition to secure electoral victories either now or in the future.

Peretei, who previously served as the PDP’s Financial Secretary from 1999 to 2003 before becoming the state’s Publicity Secretary in 2020, accused some party figures of exploiting the PDP for personal benefits every election cycle.

He said the party has become a tool for political opportunists, claiming those in charge have continued to manipulate its structure, making meaningful progress impossible.

According to him, the party’s chances in recent elections have been repeatedly undermined by the same individuals who now have an even tighter grip on its affairs.

“What was once a party in critical condition has now been reduced to a lifeless shell,” he wrote.

Peretei also took aim at those who rely solely on party handouts to survive, urging them to find alternative means of livelihood.

“For those whose lives depend entirely on election season funds and political favors, I encourage them to find better paths rather than clinging to politics as beggars or blind followers,” he added.
