Rivers state political plots and schemes have taken another dimension as Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers, organized a private dinner in the United Kingdom on Monday for the suspended members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The event was confirmed by Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, who provided details about the gathering.
Wike had left Nigeria on Sunday after several engagements with his political allies in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The dinner is seen as part of his ongoing efforts to retain influence over the political landscape in Rivers State amidst the rising tensions within the state assembly.
While the exact agenda of the meeting remains unclear, analysts believe it could be tied to the ongoing power struggle between factions supporting Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
