2027 Poll: APC demands arrest of Zamfara PDP women

-

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned calls for violence attributed to the Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Gusau, Yusuf Idris, the APC State Publicity Secretary, urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and immediately arrest Madawaki for her “uncultured utterances.”

According to Idris, Madawaki made the threat in the presence of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda, during a gathering in Gusau on Friday.

She reportedly declared in Hausa, “Anyone who does not vote for Dauda, we will maim, beat, kill him” (“zamu ci ubanshi zamu yi mashi duka”).

Idris stressed that the APC, as a major opposition party in Zamfara, would not be intimidated by such threats or attempts at violence.

He emphasized that elections should be free, fair, and nonviolent, and praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for efforts to eliminate intimidation and violence from the political process.

The statement reaffirmed APC’s resolve to resist any form of harassment or violent intimidation ahead of the 2027 governorship election, in which the PDP’s candidate is Governor Dauda Lawal.
