14 kidnapped as armed men in military uniform hijack boat in Rivers
A routine trip along Rivers State’s Isaka River turned into a nightmare on Tuesday, May 6, when unidentified gunmen abducted 14 individuals, including a boat captain and 13 commuters.
The incident occurred shortly after noon in the Okrika axis, as the speedboat Blessing & Happy Marine, steered by Benjamin Alabotubo, journeyed from Port Harcourt to the riverine settlement of Bille.
Reports confirm that the attackers, masked as military personnel, overtook the boat and seized everyone aboard, whisking them away to an unknown destination.
Authorities have launched a manhunt and rescue effort, deploying troops to the area in hopes of retrieving the victims and apprehending those behind the crime.
